Documents Required

The following are the general documents required for opening an Indian bank account. However, the list is not exhaustive and can change as per the bank’s policies from time to time.
  • Application letter requesting to open a bank account in that branch in your name
  • Passport– 01 copy*
  • Visa – 01 copy*
  • FRRO registration certificate – RP/RC – 01 copy
  • Form C/ Residence certificate – 01 copy
  • Bonafide certificate – 01 copy
  • Supporting documents for father’s name and permanent address proof – 01 copy
  • IIT KGP’s Invitation letter – 01 copy
  • IIT KGP’s student identity card – 01 copy*
  • Sponsorship letter – 01 copy*
  • Passport size photo(quantity-1)

Note : *Original documents need to be carried to the bank for the physical verification by the bank officials.

List of Banks on Campus

There are 3 banks located inside the campus.

  1. State Bank of India is close to the institute and provides foreign exchange facilities
  2. Canara Bank (first floor of the institute main building)
  3. Punjab National Bank (Tech Market)

Several ATM booths of several banks have been set up at strategic locations of the campus.

Banks provide withdrawal, funds transfer, currency exchange (limited services).

Hours of operation:
9am-12.30pm, 1.30pm-3.30pm
Monday to Friday
1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday.
