What part does a Ms/PhD degree from a prestigious university play in a student’s life?
I always had a passion for being a Researcher. I want to see myself as a professor in my career and reach there; I think a PhD degree from a prestigious university helps a lot. If you are also aspiring to be a researcher in the future, then a PhD degree will help you a lot.
From where did you get the motivation? How did it all start? How did you handle your preparation with your academics?
The best I remember is that from class 10th onwards, I had a tilt towards academics. When my journey began at IIT Kharagpur, I started performing better and better, which made me inclined towards the areas in which academic achievements matter. Then correct guidance from professors led me to a PhD. Handling my academics was always a part of my journey.
How did you apply for the MS/PhD?
All universities have an online portal on their website through which you have to fill a form to apply for a PhD Since it’s a lengthy procedure. I will urge you to start preparing all the documents required and contact all the relevant professors beginning in October.
How are you planning to manage your finances?
Since I am doing a PhD, I don’t have to worry much about the expenses because my university gives me enough stipend. Usually, the top 200 universities care a lot about your costs in the PhD course.
What is theh role of CGPA in the process?
CGPA plays a critical role because most of the top universities have a minimum CGPA cut off. If you ask me, I would say that having a CG above nine is required to be in a good university.
How is your university going to manage everything in this confusion of Covid-19?
They have informed me that in case of any decision taken, they will notify me. And there is a strong possibility of online classes.
How did IIT KGP benefit you in your journey?
In my journey of getting this PhD, professors and supervisors have played a crucial role. Without their guidance, it could have only been a dream.
And yes, don’t hesitate to take advice from seniors. Just go and ask them for any help.
