Internships at International Rice Research Institute

IRRI has been working with partners in different countries to develop and operationalize satellite based rice monitoring systems (e.g., PRISM, https://prism.philrice.gov.ph/; RIICE, http://www.riice.org/). As part of on-going research, remote sensing is being used to further characterize rice-based systems and derive indicators for rice crop health and management. The following are the topics of interest to IRRI that can be done as part of the internship of MTech students (12-16 weeks) or further expanded as dual degree projects. Due to continued travel restrictions, the proposed research topics will involve deskwork using open source software, freely available satellite images, products derived from satellite and drone images, and ground observations collected by IRRI and partners in the Philippines. Projects Titles:  Detecting crop rotation and fallow duration using multi-temporal SAR and optical imagery  Analysis of drone images to differentiate crop establishment methods  Drone-based crop monitoring of bacterial leaf blight (BLB) progression at experimental fields at IRRI. “Combined Study and Practice Stays for Engineers from Developing Countries (KOSPIE) with Indian IITs” is based on a MoU between the IITs and the TU9. This scholarship programme funds students to work on their master theses at the German host university i.e. one of the TU9 Technical universities. The programme at the respective Technical Universities in Germany will begin on 1st September 2021 with a month-long German language course. The DAAD scholarship application procedure is online like in the previous years. The applicants must apply online and upload all required documents through the application portal. Conditions to apply: 1. The nominated candidates must have a confirmed placement at the host university in Germany. 2. They should have completed all the required credits at IITKgp. 3. International Relations Cell, IIT Kharagpur is happy to inform the research enthusiastic students of IIT Kharagpur about DAAD-Wise Scholarship who want to pursue their research Internship in Germany. The program targets Indian students pursuing a degree in the fields of science and engineering who wish to do a research internship at a publicly-funded German higher education institution or a research institute. Students applying for the scholarship must be in the 5th or 6th academic semester of a 4-year Bachelor’s program or in their 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th academic semester of a 5-year integrated or dual degree program (Bachelor-Master). Raman Charpak Fellowship 2019

The CLEOPATRA project (a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network) started on 1 January 2019. It offers a unique interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research and training programme, which will explore how we can begin to analyse and understand how the major events that influence and shape our lives and societies play out online. The CLEOPATRA ITN will hire 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) in the areas of the Semantic Web, Natural Language Processing, Human Computer Interaction, Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. ESRs will be appointed starting from 1st July 2019 across the consortium. The applicants can come from any country in the world, and need to be in the first 4 years after the completion of the masters degree. The deadlines of each project varies, with the earliest deadline being 15 Feb, 2019.

MEXT Scholarship

MEXT scholarship, provided by the University of Tokyo is a government scholarship fully funded by Japan allowing international students to study in fully funded Japanese universities. The scholarship is for the international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as Undergraduate and Postgraduate students under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. Application deadline is around the END OF JANUARY. Online interview will be on Feb 18 or 19, at the India Office of the University of Tokyo, New Delhi. Together they will provide 10 awards annually for IIT senior undergraduate and graduate students across India to conduct research at SFU. Awards are valued at $6,000 CAD per student and help to support travel, accommodation, and living expenses over a 12-week research project at SFU. An additional $2,000 top-up from SFU is available for students participating in research placements with SFU’s Faculty of Applied Science ($8,000 CAD total award value). Selected IIT students may begin their exchange at SFU as early as May 2019.

NCCU Elite Scholarship Program

NCCU currently offers six Master’s and Doctoral degree for international students. These include International Master’s; Doctoral Programs in Asia-Pacific Studies, Communication, Economics, International Affairs and Business (IDAS, IMAS, IMICS, IMES, IMPIS, and IMBA). Information for International Degree Students for Spring 2019 admissions will be available at the NCCU website from September 7, 2018. Applications will be accepted from September 27, 2018 to October 22, 2018. The NCCU Elite Scholarship Program provides a full tuition waiver and a monthly living stipend for two years (Master’s program) or three years (Doctoral program), ensuring that international students can focus all their attention and energy on their studies. Applicants must meet the following criteria: ※ Currently serving as lecturer at a public or private college/university in Southeast or South Asia. ※ Holding a passport from one of the following countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Bhutan.

CISCO USA Internship Program

Cisco USA has a 1 year all expenses paid internship for international students, where they work in real labs on real projects in San Jose, California, while delaying their graduation by 1 year. Several students have been through this program, and most of them also got job offers from Cisco, upon completion of their BTech or MTech.
