1] While you were in college, what was your motivation to go for higher studies and in which year did you get that motivation? How did you manage your academics with your preparation?
Ans: He always knew from the start that he did not like the courses in chemical engineering and
getting a masters in computer science in the US will be the perfect return on investment. Non-core
jobs are always not a safe option
2] What is the process of interdisciplinary studies? How easy was the switch? What motivated you the switch?
Ans: It is absolutely difficult to switch. You need to put in a lot of effort apart from college academics.
Publish Papers, get work experience, and a lot more. The switch was because of the return on
investment factor and also his sheer interest in computer science
3] What are the factors that you considered for selecting the universities you are going to apply for?
Ans: He wanted a university in the US. He applied for reach schools and safety schools after reviewing
his resume and the universities parallelly to check his best fit
4] How are you planning to manage your finances? Have you applied for any scholarships? What were
their procedures?
Ans: The finances will be managed by applying for TA, RA, etc which will vouch for approximately 75%
of the tuition fees
5] Is CGPA a factor while considering higher studies at foreign universities?
Ans: It is an integral factor as universities use it as a filter for reviewing student profiles
6] Have you taken up any research project at your bachelor/master's level under any professor here at IIT KGP? How did you manage your college studies and worked for your research?
Ans: He said he had done projects under two professors at IIT and also professors abroad.
Academics are quite manageable if you use your time efficiently
7] What are the suggestions that you would give your juniors who want to pursue higher studies?
Could you please give a rough roadmap to ease their journey?
Ans: Join groups like the Robotix Club, maintain a decent cgpa, explore a lot especially the fields you
like, and try to get a foreign internship
