Research Area: Application of Deep Learning in Advanced Health Analytics

What was your research topic?
My research topic was the application of deep learning in advanced health analytics.

From where did you get the motivation and how did you apply for FT?
I had a great interest in Deep Learning and AI, so I asked one of my friends who worked in the IR cell about the availability of the internships. Thereafter I applied for the internships offered by the IR cell. Eventually, Prof. Carlo Morabito found me good enough for the job and offered me the internship.

What was the role of CGPA in FT?
CGPA didn’t play much role in my FT. I neither have a very good nor a very bad CGPA. What really helped me was the previous internship that I did in Data Analytics(mathematical modelling). I feel the more work experience you have, the better are the chances of securing a good Foreign Internship.

How would you describe your overall experience of the training?
It was getting exposed to an international platform for the first time. The people there helped me a lot regarding the research work. I explored research for the first time and enjoyed it a lot. Before this internship, I always thought of having an office job of Data Analytics or something related to it, but after those two months I really got motivated with how these people are doing research with such passion and liberty.

Did you face any difficulty in the whole process?
There was difficulty in communication due to the Italian accent, but later they were speaking slowly for my better understanding and eventually I didn’t face any such problem.

What advice would you like to give to our fellow KGPians who aspire for FT?
I would like to say that research is really a very good option, and people who do not have an interest in an office job can opt for research and pursue a research internship like this. Also people who are studying their core subjects for 4-5 years, they are the most eligible people for such training.
