Research Area: Architecture Design
1. Explain about the projects on which you worked during the internship?
In one of the projects we had to convert an old villa into a kindergarten. In another project we had to build everything from scratch and I managed the architecture design and the client meetings.
2. How did you apply for foreign internship?
I was dedicatedly targeting a foreign internship. I contacted our Alumni regarding it and started mailing to the firms. I did almost 500 emails to get about 10-15 interviews out.
3. Did you face a language barrier? If yes, then how did you manage it?
It was a really big issue as Germans are not good at English. They were preparing their speech whenever they needed to communicate with me. But gradually we were comfortable.
4. What was the role of CGPA for your foreign internship?
They didn’t even ask for the CGPA. I think what really matters is having a good portfolio.
5. How would you describe your overall experience in Germany?
I enjoyed it a lot there. The people were very kind and helpful. They provided me with the accomodation in the starting 2-3 days and the stipend that I was getting was adequate for the basic needs. Working with the company gave me a good exposure.
6. What advice would you like to give to our fellow KGPians who aspire for foreign internship?
If anyone aspires, then he can definitely get one, the main thing is to go on and have faith in yourself and prepare a good portfolio.
Also the guidance of the seniors will be really helpful.
