Worked in IIT Kharagpur under Professor Sandeep Saha on MATLAB.
Worked on finding the permeability of shells using the laboratory techniques.
Worked on a project for making 1-D and 3-D Mechanical Earth Models.
"I am a 4th-year student from Texas A&M University with a major in Aerospace Engineering. I worked in IIT Kharagpur under Professor Sandeep Saha. The major part of my work was on MATLAB and so I spent a lot of my time in the Aerospace Department Computer Lab. I stayed at the SAM Guest House. But we used to have our meals at the Technology Guest House. The labs were good. It was my first visit to India and I enjoyed meeting a lot of people. I was very astonished by the cultural diversity of the campus. We found people of different religions on the campus. And also the people speaking different languages. It is interesting to see people speaking different languages in the campus. People on the campus were from different parts of India and so everyone was away from their home. Because of this reason I missed mine a little lesser. I am very eager to see my family and friends back in the US. But may be sometime in the future I may return to India."
"I am a 3rd-year student from Texas A&M University with a major in Petroleum Engineering. I worked on finding the permeability of shells using the laboratory techniques and then had to compare it with results of various technical papers. The labs in IIT Kharagpur were more or less similar to the ones that we had in our university in the US. Initially, during the settling down period, we faced a few problems regarding the language especially while getting things from the Tech Market. We were helped by the other students in the department to come over this language barrier. The students used to accompany us to the tech market. One Undergraduate student even accompanied us to Kolkata so that our lives would be easier. A trip Kolkata without that guy would have been a very problematic one. We traveled to Sikkim, Goa and Delhi. It was very nice traveling around India."
"I am a 4th-year student from Texas A&M University with a major in Petroleum Engineering. I was working on a project for making 1-d and 3-d MEMs, that means the Mechanical Earth Models. It involved lots of computer coding in MATLAB, Ansys etc and I had never done it before. My professor helped me a lot. I would particularly comment on the Indian food. Majority of the food options over here were vegetarian. We had to eat only chicken for non-veg. There was not much variety in the non-vegetarian. I liked the Indian sweets a lot. A particular thing that I noticed here was that a lot of people eat food with their hand, even the wet food. I liked the “chicken tikka tandoori” and the “gulab jamun” a lot. I wish to take some of them back with me to my home. Sometime down the road I would love to come back to India."
