ANU 2022 Future Research Talent (FRT) program

The Future Research Talent (FRT) awards are jointly offered by ANU College of Science, ANU College of Health and Medicine and ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science to students from India.

The FRT is a competitive and prestigious program that attracts the very best international students from high-quality Indian institutions and provides them exposure to ANU research in the Science, Health, Medicine and Computer Science disciplines. This program will provide selected Indian students with an opportunity to pursue a collaborative research projects remotely with supervisors from The Australian National University (ANU), for a period of 10-12 weeks.

Important-

Applicants are required to nominate up to three research groups/areas, from the list available on the FRT webpage, as part of their application, and accordingly, ANU will allocate them to one of the appropriate research groups/areas that are willing to host them.
Applicants are NOT required or expected to contact ANU supervisors/academic staff during the application process. Pre-approval from supervisory staff at ANU is not necessary for this scheme and that ANU academic staff should not be contacted.

Applicants are also required to provide the following as part of the application.

Two academic reference letters (these can be submitted through the online application portal or emailed directly to ANU – instructions are contained in the online application portal)
Copy of their most recent transcripts (providing an overview of their cumulative GPA and courses taken as part of the degree program)
An update resume/CV

Foreign Training Program

The Foreign Training Program (FTP) provides IITKgp students an opportunity of gaining international exposure. Under this program, the IR Cell has set up the foreign training application procedure. Students will get a global exposure and research intensive experience in their summers. For more details, click here.

Semester Away Program

The Semester Away Program allows Undergraduate, Postgraduate and doctoral students of IIT Kharagpur to spend up to one year doing research/ coursework at a reputed university/Institute in India or abroad. Unless explicitly covered by an MoU, the student is expected to bear all costs of the SAP experience. Visit the OIR to find out more about universities with which IITKGP has a tuition waiver and partial funding agreement.

Student Exchange Program

Student Exchange Program covers funded short-term visit by students between the two institutions on a reciprocal basis. The visiting student must be a full-time student enrolled in a degree program in their Home Institution. Exchange program is open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students of each Home Institution. The students must ensure that they are academically prepared to meet the requirements of the planned coursework/research at the Host Institution. Selection of students under such program depends on the discretion of the institution.

Joint Doctoral Programs

IIT Kgp offers Joint Doctoral Programs (JDP) with its partner institutions. JDP provides students with an exclusive opportunity to live and study in both countries during their candidature and earn their doctoral degree jointy awarded by the partner institutes. The thesis is evaluated by each Institute according to its own rules and the joint nature of the work is acknowledged in the degree certificate(s).

The Institute provides various levels of financial support to JDP students such as one round-trip international travel to the partner institute. Further details regarding support may be found from Dean (Post Graduate Studies and Research) and the Academic Section.

Joint Doctoral Program (JDP) - University of Melbourne

The program is open to first-year doctoral students of the Home Institution.

IITKGP Students: In order to be eligible, you must complete your coursework and comprehensive exam within 12 months of enrollment and have a minimum CGPA of 8.5. You need to spend 12 to 24 months in Melbourne doing research under joint-supervision. The thesis is evaluated by each Institute according to its own rules and the joint nature of the work is acknowledged in the degree certificates. Funding on both sides is available. Additional information may be sought from Prof. Goutam Das, GSSST, Coordinator of the IITKGP-UoM DDP, the OIR and the MIPA portal.

Dual Doctoral Degree Program (DDDP) - Curtin University

The program is open to first-year doctoral students of the Home Institution. The student needs to spend at least 1 year in the partner Institution doing research under joint-supervision. The thesis is evaluated by each Institute according to its own rules and the joint nature of the work is acknowledged in the two-degree certificates. Funding on both sides is available.

Dual Doctoral Program (DDP) - University of Wollongong
IIT Kharagpur is offering joint programs with University of Wollongong, Australia. The institutions are promoting joint research projects and joint courses of study with two-way mobility of students who will get a Dual Doctoral Degree at the end of their dissertation work. Under the DDP, doctoral students of both the Institutes can pursue a doctoral degree under joint supervision by faculty members from both the Institutes. If admitted to DDP, the student will be required to stay for at least one year at the Host Institute/University while doing research under joint-supervision. The student will receive support for international travel and local expenses.

Joint Doctoral Degree Program (JDP)- University of Alberta

The Office of International Relations is happy to share that our first joint doctoral program in North America is now signed by IITKGP. As part of this partnership, collaborating faculty members from U of Alberta and IITKGP will identify research projects for the joint degree students as part of their doctoral studies. The thesis will be evaluated by each Institute according to its own rules. As per the agreement, the student will be required to spend a period of 6 – 12 months in the host institution during the course of his/her doctoral studies. The student will get a degree certificate from the home institution ONLY; however, the parchment will acknowledge the joint nature of the work.

Jointly guided funded student projects - University of Auckland

IIT Kharagpur and the University of Auckland, NZ, have signed the Joint Doctoral Program Agreement in December 2019. Both the Institutes are looking to build up a strategic long-term academic collaboration through fully funded joint supervision of students.

The 3rd year UG student will be jointly guided by the IITKGP and UoA faculty team not only during the summer, but throughout the fourth year (as part of BTP or other project work). This joint guidance will help build up long term collaboration between the two faculty members. The year-long research collaboration may culminate in joint guidance of a student to be enrolled in IITKGP-UoA joint PhD degree program.

DUO-India Fellowship Programme

DUO-India Fellowship Programme is established in 2019 with the aim of promoting exchange of people between India and European countries on a balanced and permanent basis. For this program, only such institutes which are part of the Joint Research Projects under Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) are eligible to participate.

DUO-India aims to fund every year, 100 student-pairs for exchanges for one semester, starting from 2020 onwards aiming to provide mobility between Indian and European institutes. In this respect, DUO-India requires that a PAIR (two persons) of students be exchanged, and they should be from any of the collaborating institutes (both Indian and European) under SPARC projects.
